With an average car-to-parking space ratio of just 1:0.8—far behind the 1:1.3 seen in many developed countries—China faces a severe parking shortage that not only disrupts daily life but also leads to billions in wasted fuel and excess carbon emissions.
Over the past decade China’s smart parking industry has rapidly evolved—from basic license plate recognition to AI-powered autonomous valet parking (AVP) and from isolated parking lots to fully integrated city-wide platforms. Amid this transformation EBO-TECH founded in Chengdu in 2015 has played a significant role in shaping the future of urban mobility.
To mark its 10th anniversary EBO-TECH hosted a milestone event themed “Innovation with Purpose Parking with Intelligence.” Bringing together experts from academia government and industry the event focused on tackling the sector’s key challenges—homogeneous competition and limited profitability.
A decade of technological breakthroughs
With over 60 national patents and dual recognition as a High-Tech Enterprise and a “Specialized and Innovative” enterprise EBO-TECH has grown from a startup into a nationally recognized industry leader. CEO Francis Chen shared the company’s vision: In the ‘last mile’ of mobility—parking—we aim to become the most trusted partner for customers worldwide. Wherever there’s a car there should be EBO-TECH.
EBO-TECH has led the way with several pioneering initiatives including the deployment of China’s first AVP-enabled parking lot integrated with a cloud platform. In partnership with major automakers such as Dongfeng EBO-TECH has already connected production vehicles to real-world smart parking scenarios.
At the event the company also unveiled a suite of next-generation products including advanced recognition terminals robotic parking attendants full-scenario digital parking platforms and AI-powered patrol bots—all designed to redefine the smart parking experience in the AI era.
Thought leadership across the industry
The celebration also featured keynote speeches from leading academic experts.
Professor Xichan Zhu from Tongji University emphasized the transformative potential of AI in autonomous driving positioning autonomous valet parking (AVP) as a practical entry point for advancing smart mobility in China.
Professor Danya Yao from Tsinghua University addressed the challenges of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) collaboration advocating for a “road-first” deployment model to accelerate real-world adoption.
These insights were echoed by industry leaders including Zhang Weihua Vice President of EBO-TECH who remarked:
Parking should no longer be a bottleneck in the age of intelligent vehicles. The future lies in unmanned AI-driven and robot-managed parking infrastructure.
Unlocking the value chain
Dong Yuan Chairman of Bangshi Capital and a long-term investor in the mobility sector noted that companies like EBO-TECH—combining deep technical expertise with startup agility—are well-positioned to lead the next wave of innovation. He emphasized the strategic value of AVP-generated data models which can evolve into core digital assets and unlock new monetization opportunities.
Representatives from parking associations and technology providers also underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration ecosystem integration and full-scale digital transformation.

As China’s urban centers continue to modernize parking is evolving from a passive service to a vital component of smart city infrastructure. Through a “three-step” strategy—equipment intelligence platform ecosystem and city-level integration—smart parking is poised to support broader mobility energy and commercial ecosystems.
