KLCC Twin Towers is one of EBO-TECH’s representative smart parking projects in Malaysia. The project focused on upgrading the existing parking access and payment process through a more localized, convenient, and efficient operating model.

Before the upgrade, the parking facility relied on a traditional ticket-based process. Physical tickets introduced additional operating steps for drivers and made vehicle entry, payment, and exit more dependent on the correct handling of ticket records. For a parking facility serving a large and continuous flow of vehicles, the existing process limited overall traffic-processing efficiency and affected the convenience of the parking experience.

The project therefore required more than a standard entrance and exit system. It needed a localized solution that could reliably recognize Malaysian license plates, reduce dependence on paper tickets, and connect vehicle access with a more convenient payment workflow.

Project Challenges

The first challenge was local license plate recognition. Malaysian license plates have their own formats and operating characteristics, meaning that a standard recognition configuration could not fully meet the project’s requirements without localization.

The second challenge was the ticket-based parking process. Drivers needed to rely on physical parking tickets throughout the parking session, creating more operating steps and increasing dependence on ticket handling.

The third challenge was payment efficiency. The project required a more convenient payment method that could support a smoother parking journey and reduce unnecessary delays during vehicle exit.

EBO-TECH Solution

EBO-TECH replaced the previous ticket-based process with a modern smart parking solution combining localized license plate recognition and mobile payment.

Localized Malaysian License Plate Recognition
EBO-TECH developed a dedicated recognition algorithm for Malaysian license plates. This improved the system’s ability to identify vehicles accurately within the local parking environment and provided a more reliable basis for entry and exit verification.

Ticketless Parking Access
The upgraded workflow used vehicle license plates as the primary parking identity, reducing reliance on physical parking tickets. This simplified the parking process and removed unnecessary ticket-handling steps from the driver journey.

Mobile Payment Integration
The new payment workflow introduced mobile payment, allowing drivers to complete parking payment through a more convenient digital process. This reduced dependence on traditional ticket-based settlement and helped create a smoother transition from payment to exit.

Connected Entry, Payment, and Exit Workflow
Vehicle recognition and payment status were connected within one parking workflow. This allowed the system to manage the parking session more efficiently and supported faster verification when vehicles reached the exit.

Project Results

The upgraded solution significantly improved driver convenience and increased parking processing efficiency by nearly five times.

By replacing the previous paper-ticket workflow with localized license plate recognition and mobile payment, the project reduced unnecessary operating steps and created a more efficient parking access experience.

The KLCC Twin Towers project also helped validate EBO-TECH’s localized smart parking solution model in the Malaysian market, demonstrating the company’s ability to adapt recognition and payment workflows to local project requirements.
